Pradesh Congress held AKROSH Rally against the demolition of the party offices
By Our Correspondent, 17/05/2018, Agartala

Tripura Pradesh Congress led by PCC Chief Birajit Sinha and its union NSUI staged Akrosh rally at Agartala on Thursday.

The protest rally was called by Tripura Pradesh Congress against the demolition of party offices.

The Congress claimed that 35 of its offices had received notices for being built on government land. The administration has served the notices and carried out the demolition without calling an all-party meeting, Tripura Congress leader Birajit Sinha said. The congress leaders also alleged that there are many office and buildings which are built on the government land then why only congress offices are being targeted.  Following the demolition the congress leader called CM Biplab Kumar Deb a barbaric ruler.

Congress leaders had staged a demonstration and road blockade against the demolition drive. However, rally was further withdrawn when police came into action.

Huge number of offices of political parties and their affiliated trade unions that are illegally built on government land were bulldozed across the state.  The action began in Agartala where several illegal constructions were bulldozed by the district administration.

Reportedly, the Revenue department officials said that the new government has directed all eight district administrations to demolish all the illegal constructions built on government land.

The political party offices, including the ones of the ruling party would be destroyed in days, followed by other illegal constructions.
