CM Biplab Kumar Deb expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi for renaming Agartala Airport after King

Renaming of Agartala Airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya is another HISTORIC decision taken for the people of Tripura; On behalf of 37 lakh citizens of Tripura, I thank PM Narendra Modi for recognising immortal contribution of the Architect of Tripura, said CM Biplab Kumar Deb.

Addressing the massive rally organized outside RS Bhawan on Wednesday to PM Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah, and CM Biplab Kumar Deb for making the historical decision on renaming the Agartala Airport to Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore Airport,CM Biplab kumar Deb said that renaming Agartala airport after the King would be "a befitting tribute" to him.

 Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Dy CM Jisnhu Debbarma and other also remained present in the rally.

It is to be mentioned here that The Union cabinet approved to rename Agartala airport after Tripura's last reigning king Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur.

In 1942, the king constructed the airport, which played a crucial role in the Second World War. The Agartala airport, earlier known as Singerbill Airport, is located 20 km north of the capital city and sits along the Bangladesh border.

An official release said the Agartala airport is the second busiest airport in the northeastern India and provides crucial air connectivity in the region linking Kolkata and other major airports in the country.
