CM Biplab Kumar Deb to inaugurate 3rd Agartala Rath Yatra by ISKCON

CM Biplab Kumar Deb to inaugurate the 9 day long Chariot Festival popularly known as Rath Yatra on 14th July at 2pm from the premises of ISKCON temple located at Math Chowmuhani. The festival will continue for 9 days (14th July to 22nd July).  Co-Temple President ISKCON Agartala Sridham Govinda Das Kalyani Roy Chief whip, MLA Ratan Chakraborty and others to remain present in the inaugural program.  The chariot will move through the several streets starting from ISKCON temple via Old Motor stand, MBB Club, NS Road, Netaji Chowmuhani, Gandhighat, other and will conclude at  Guruji Conference Hall which is located as the temporary Mashir Bari( Gundicha temple).

The Chariot festival on 14th July will be followed by seven days Srimad Bhagavat katha and workshops organized for indigenous Tribal people of NE to enhance awareness on health, education, emotion and others.

The program will conclude on 22nd July with Return Chariot festival also known as Ulta Rath yatra which will be marked in presence of Dy CM Jishnu Debbarma from Guruji Conference hall.

Rath Yatra attracts more than one million pilgrims every year, from across the state. Rath Yatra in other words the Chariot Festival is the only day when devotees who are not allowed into the temple can get a chance to see the deities. This festival is a symbol of equality and integration.

The 3 deities, Lord Jagannath, his elder brother Lord Balabhadra and their sister Subhadra are worshipped within the temple, on this festival they are taken to the streets so that everyone can have the fortune to see them. The 3 deities make an annual journey to their aunt's temple.
